Jewelry Organization

I picked up a bamboo placemat (in the dollar section!) at Michaels last week, and decided to use it to organize my earring collection. Most of my earrings have open french hooks, which slid easily between the slats, and I used the bottom row for hoops, lever backs, and posts with backs so they can be easily accessed. I used a bit of wire at the top to hang it.

The placemat also coordinates nicely with my necklace organizer, made last year from a utensil organizer (from Target) and some pretty drawer pulls (most from Hobby Lobby) using a tutorial found online. (I was going to link to it, but it’s no longer active.) The backs of each section are covered in scrapbook paper, and I screwed a couple of eye hooks into the top to hang it. A few of the sections are a bit short, as you can see, but it overall it works pretty well!

Hope you are all having a great year so far! I’m excited that we are finally getting some sun and temperatures in the 50s this week!

Update: Check out my new tutorial for transforming a utensil tray into a necklace organizer!

  1. This is Brilliant! I love it! I've been trying to figure out what to do with my jewelry since I don't have a box for it. I think I just might end up doing something like this 🙂

  2. Tracked back from Apartment Therapy.I absolutely love this post! The use of an inexpensive utensil holder works perfectly. You'll have to post your own tutorial, I think, because this turned out so amazing and you should really share it.I don't wear earrings, so seeing something that can be used just for the stuff I own (necklaces and bracelets) is a boon for sure.
