Black & White Dress

Black & White Dress

I’ve had this fabric and pattern matched up in my stash for over a year, and decided it was time to finally make it!

Black & White DressThis is Simplicity 2657, view C, and yes, I’m sure the picture on the envelope inspired my fabric choice 🙂 I don’t remember where I got the fabric, but it has a nice weight and drape to it, and I love the floral print!

The bodice is lined, and therefore self-finished. I used french seams on the skirt, except for the left side, where I did a Hong Kong finish (covered in bias tape) because of the zipper.

This dress is cool and comfortable for the end of summer, and it will make a great transition piece into the fall with jeans or leggings and a sweater.

This was a nice break for me from sewing purses 🙂 What have you been sewing recently?

P.S. What do you think of the blog re-design?

  1. Thanks, Katherine! I hope you can get back into it. It's so satisfying to wear something you've made yourself, isn't it?
