Lessons From a Year-Round Capsule Wardrobe + Recent Purges

thumbnail
I have been living with my year-round capsule wardrobe for a year now, and I have learned a few things in the process.

If you’re new to my Year-Round Capsule Wardrobe Series, check out these posts first:
⇒ My introduction to capsule wardrobes and why I decided to make a year-round capsule wardrobe.
⇒ My process and tips for creating a year-round capsule wardrobe.

Lesson One
I don’t need as much as I used to think I did.

Lesson Two
I’m a lot pickier about my clothes now. I pay a lot more attention to how my clothes fit and feel, the fabric they’re made out of, and how I feel when I wear them, both while shopping and while evaluating what’s currently in my closet.

Lesson Three
Things wear out faster when you wear them more often.

Lesson Four
I get tired of wearing the same things over and over every few months.

Lesson Five
My shopping habits have changed because I am now much pickier and more honest with myself about how things fit, feel & look while shopping.

Watch the video to hear a little more about what I’ve learned and to see what I’ve decluttered from my closet recently:

Here is my current numbers breakdown:
Tops: 20
Layering Pieces: 6
Bottoms: 8
Dresses: 4
Outerwear: 5
Shoes: 9
Current Total: 52 items

And just for kicks and giggles, here is how my color palette has changed since last May:
